METROPOLITAN TITLE EXPANDS FURTHER INTO OHIO

HOWELL, MI. (September 10, 2001) - Metropolitan Title Company, headquartered in Howell, Michigan, has acquired the stock of Old Republic Title Agency of Columbus, Inc. in Ohio. The stock acquisition agreement that took place on September 1 brings the total number of Metropolitan Title offices in Ohio to eight. Metropolitan Title has been successfully operating in the state since November of last year.

"This is a very successful company, that is staffed and managed by very bright people," noted Metropolitan Title Company President/CEO, Ken Lingenfelter. "These offices are well known and respected in the Columbus market, and will be a great addition to Metropolitan Title's branch network," Lingenfelter added. These new Ohio offices that operate in two key markets - Columbus and Cincinnati -- will further enhance the company's premise of being The Midwest's Premier Real Estate Resource.

Metropolitan Title has an impressive history of growth, especially during the past four years, expanding from 38 to now 118 offices and from 400 to approximately 1,300 employees. The company currently maintains offices in six states, including, Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky, Wisconsin and Ohio. Impressive also is the fact that company is only 22 years old, having been founded by Lingenfelter in 1979. Metropolitan Title offers a full inventory of title and closing services for customers nation wide. They include 1031 tax deferred exchanges, National Services and Relocation divisions, and appraisal and flood certification service.

Metropolitan Title-Ohio's Vice President, Timm Kalep will be overseeing these new offices. "I am excited to be able to see how dynamically these two great companies combine and then impact the markets," remarked Kalep. "Metropolitan Title brings advanced technology and innovation to its customers nation wide. This should only further complement these new Metropolitan Title operations," Kalep noted.

In addition to its corporate headquarters in Howell, Michigan, Metropolitan Title has regional centers in Rochester and Holland, Michigan; Mishawaka, Indiana; Carol Stream, Illinois; Lexington, Kentucky and Brookfield, Wisconsin.
