Petoskey, Michigan (July 23, 1999) – Emmet County Abstract & Title Company Inc. has been purchased by Metropolitan Title Company of Howell,
Michigan. The announcement was made jointly by Tom Leavitt, President of Emmet County Abstract & Title, and Ken Lingenfelter, President/CEO of Metropolitan Title. According to Leavitt, the sale of the
92-year old company will bring Emmet County Abstract & Title to a more sophisticated level. "Metropolitan Title," Leavitt said, "is very advanced in terms of its services and technology and has an excellent reputation in
the state of Michigan. This means we will now be able to provide a stronger mix of products and services to all of our clients. Leavitt added that the company's entire staff is excited about the acquisition and that
customers response has been wonderful. "The acquisition of Emmet County Abstract & Title Company is our first venture into northern Michigan," noted Lingenfelter. "Emmet County Abstract is a great
company with great employees. The company's management style and customers service capability fall right in line with Metropolitan Title's vision. Our goal," Lingenfelter noted, "is to build our northern region from
this base. We are looking forward to expanding Metropolitan Title's operation in this magnificent part of the state, as we continue to expand our growth throughout the Midwest." Metropolitan Title
